Okay, I did a search but nothing came up on the problem I am having. I hooked up a line level converter in the dash to the 2 rear speakers so I could run a couple of subs. For some reason there is always a low level of music comming through the subs even when I turn the volume all the way down to mute.
The sub volume does not seem to increase or decrease with the volume of the radio.it just stays at this low level. I am thinking it may be the converter since it is not like one I have used in the past. It is a 4 channel converter that I got from WalMart that has speaker level input AND outputs which seems a little odd. I didn't use the outputs, I just spiced into the factory harness. The instructions weren't real clear on what the outputs are for. Not sure if this applies or not.
I got the el cheapo 4 speaker system, switched out those 4 for aftermarkets, realized I needed a sub then, shop went to install 1 10' under the passenger rear seat with 200 watt amp, ended up needed a 400 watt, they said the 200 couldn't pull enough signal from the head unit (at least I think that's what they said) so had to go with a 400 watt. With the 200 you had to crank all 3 eq's up to get a signal which distorted the other speakers, with the 400 can back all bass out of those, I can crank mine to 35 now and no distorsion. I had the same problem you need to tap off of the rear of the head unit on the preouts not sure what color wires and then take that to your speaker signal to rca converter then to your amp. I had a hard time with it finally after 4 hrs the installers at circuit city figured that one out. I had this same problem, except I had a stereo shop do it and gave it back to me that way. When I took it back they had someone who knew what they were doing work on it. Microsoft dynamics rms. It took him about 15 minutes and it was done.
He had to tap the wires at the Head unit before the Amp. This made a huge difference.
In my book, Big Bucks from Big Signs, I’m revealing my exact process for finding, procuring, and selling advertising on big signs of all types - next to highways, on farmland, and even near resort and vacation destinations My name is Frank Rolfe and I fell into the billboard business in 1982 after graduating from college. I started a business to help me with my MBA school applications and I was so successful, I never actually went back to school. In fact, I sold my billboard business for $5.8 MILLION which is not too bad when you considered that I started by fixing up an old sign and selling space on it to a couple local businesses (including one seedy motel.) My first big sign made me $19k per year in pure profit and I did it without having someone to show me the way like you do right now. Do you know the rules and regulations you have to follow to make that deal happen legally and profitably? Big bucks from big signs pdf.
Install Line Out Converter Dodge Ram
I pick up my new 2013 Big Horn on Wednesday and I am a little unsure as to how to install my current subs into it. I will be transferring the current set-up, 2 10's JLs in a thunderform box with an Alpine PDX 500x1 amp, from my '03 into the '13. The truck does not have the factory Alpine speaker upgrade, however it does have the RA3 8.4A uConnect Access head unit, so I am not willing to go to any aftermarket head unit since the 8.4 was a major selling point for me. I have read around about using signal processors/line drivers or just piggy backing off the speaker wiring into the amp but have not found anything solid about the best way to add the system to the factory stereo. What is the best way to do this? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.

Proud Member of The Original WCPW. Finished the install and have it working great! Didn't want to touch the factory wiring at all, so I soldered the additional speaker wires directly to the speakers and ran the new wires back out through the doors and to the back with the LC2i mounted just behind the amp. Only thing left to install is the gain adjustment knob, so I can turn the bass completely down when listening to Howard Stern on XM. Also still playing with the setting on it to get it perfect. Couple of notes, -Fitted boxes like the MTX Thunderform box I have for the older quad cabs (mine was an '03) will fit the new trucks. If you are a moron like me and let the speaker wires touch, essentially creating a short, the radio's BUS system will shut the sound down. Don't freak like I did, turn the key off, let it sit for a bit then restart it and it will come back. Will post the pictures up of the running of the new speaker wires through the rear door once Webshots reloads.
Here's the few shots I got. Here is the wire routing from the speaker out (blue wire), had to make a second notch in the speaker mount to get the new wire through.
Followed the factory harness up through the door. This is where I ran the wire through the plug at the body end of the door plug. You can run the wire through the rubber piece and then at the end there is two large open spaces in the plug face perfect for running wire through. Just showing the buttoned up appearance. No way to tell from the outside of the door that there was any messing with it. Password Please enter a password for your user account. Note that passwords are case-sensitive.
